Our aim is to become a major force within the engineering/fabrication industry by expanding our operations both in Northern Scotland and in the North Sea.
Our intention is to consolidate and build upon our excellent reputation for the delivery of highest quality services and extremely competitive prices.
It is also our desire to continue to grow the business and provide good employment opportunities in an area which has the benefit of a highly skilled population, but regrettably a diminishing industrial base.
The business was established by its present Managing Director, Jim Nicolson, back in 1985. At that stage it had just one employee and operated from a small smiddy in Bower, Caithness.
As the business expanded and prospered, the financial returns were swiftly re-invested to provide a modern well equipped facility encompassing fabrication workshops and a machine workshop.
The company now enjoys a committed and flexible workforce and whilst the business is interested and capably of providing a full range of engineering/fabrication services, it has won substantial contracts and has established itself in the specialist areas of nuclear and oil-related industries. This being in addition to undertaking a wide range of contracts for the services industry.
There are currently plans underway to further expand the facilities and accommodation at the company premises and this is seen as a key strategic aim of the business.
We are well placed to offer the following services:
Nuclear Industry
Installation and maintenance of superheated, re-heaters, evaporators and HP heaters on both steam and sodium circuits.
Installation and maintenance on various types of reactor equipment.
Fabrication and installation of mild steel/stainless steel structures, pipelines, valve assemblies and waste disposal equipment.
Installation, testing and maintenance on overhead cranes and portable lifting equipment.
Decommissioning of classified and unclassified plant and equipment at PFR and DFR reactors at the Dounreay power plant in Caithness.
Installations of plant and equipment at the Fuel Reprocessing Plants at Dounreay.
Vast experience has been acquired on heat exchanger units also at the PFR, with various contract, both large and small, on the Fuel Reprocessing Plants and Waste Disposal Plane on-site.
Oil Industry
Design, manufacture and installation of launch bogies associated with the fabrication of pipeline bundles.
Design, manufacture and installation of pipeline roller assemblies and stock racks for the fabrication of pipelines.
Design, fabrication and welding of ROV equipment in stainless steel and aluminium.
Machining, fabrication, welding and installation of valve assemblies; protection cages; transponder mountings; pipeline spacers; towhead assemblies; buoyancy tank mountings; anode plates; slip-over sleeves and half clamps.
The construction of flowline bundles.
Service Industry
Fabrication and installation of road and rail bridges at Rockwater's Wester site.
Fabrication and installation of steel structures at Highlands and Islands Airport at Wick, Caithness.
Fabrication and installation of stainless steel assemblies at the new Caithness Glass Factory/complex at Wick, Caithness.
Fabrication and installation of H&V ducting at Grampian Records in Wick.
Installations and maintenance of hydraulic equipment at Spittal Quarry.
Fabrication, repair and maintenance of waste disposal equipment for Caithness District Council.
Design and fabrication of stainless steel equipment for the fishing industry (Orkney Isles)
Fabrication and installation of automatic equipment at the Norfrost freezer manufacturing plant at Castletown, Caithness.
Although we are based in the north of Scotland, we do not find this to be our disadvantage as there are reliable haulage contractors offering an excellent to and from the north service on a daily basis.
We have a combined liability insurance policy with appropriate cover applicable to the types of contracts we handle.
